4 Fabulous New Items!

This week at OOP! we have a TON of new merchandise, all of it fabulous, of course. However, we've deliberated for hours and after the fists cleared and hair pulling stopped, we finally agreed on these four items to feature in this weeks blog. Drum roll please.....

In the lead-off spot we have a birdhouse by Roost. Not any old birdhouse, this seashell birdhouse is so beautiful to look at, but also functional. Who doesn't love a nice birdhouse? Our Elf is named Nick!  Annan and Malen love him.  Every morning of December the first thing they do is rush around the house to find him.  You see the Elf waits for the boys to fall asleep and then he shoots off to the North Pole to report back to Santa on How the two of them have been for the day.  Nick also tells Santa anything else the boys may ask him.  We all know the Elf has gone to visit with Santa because when he returns he picks a new place to sit for the day. 

He sits and watches.  He sits and listens all day long until it's time for him to go back and visit with Santa.

The OOP! Advent Calendar

We were first introduced to the traditional german advent calendar during Annan's First Christmas.  Clala, his Nanny showed up on Dec 1st with a surprise.  Inside the box was an Advent Calendar, simply made of rope and numbered paper bags.  One has hung on our mantle every year since.

Several years ago the OOP! advent arrived!

Jennifer and I have made over a hundred advents for friends, family and others in need of a bit of unexpected spirit.  Last year we made a bag for every visitor room at the Ronald McDonald House.

OOP! is teaming up with RI non profit organizations to do some fundraising, this holiday season.

We have selected seven organizations to work with this year.

On Thursday evenings (5 to close) at our Providence and Wakefield location we will be giving away a free feather boa (oooo lala)  with a $30 purchase and 10% of all sales will go to a designated organization.

 

The evening of fun begins November 6th with sales benefiting  RI Citizens for the Arts 

 

MISSION

Serve as the voice for the diverse statewide arts community in order to further raise awareness and support for the arts in the public and private sector, for the benefit of all Rhode Islanders.

 

HISTORY

Since 1999, Rhode Island Citizens for the Arts has been working actively to help protect and advance funding and other benefits for artists and arts organizations in Rhode Island

We strive to understand the needs of Rhode Island artists and arts organizations, act as a voice for the arts community in front of legislature, and further raise awareness and support among the community-at-large.

The Board of Directors represents arts organizations, individual artists, arts administrators, researchers and supporters. The organization's goals are achieved through the financial support of arts organizations and individual memberships.

Making Strides

I'm not sure how many years the oopsters have walked the Breast Cancer Walk.  Maybe 12 in a row now.  Here some of us are at the finish line sporting our Pink Hats!  Nice Job oopsters.  My mom would be proud!!
