Festival Fete presents Chrissy Feiteira, designer & clay artist of Chrissy Ann Ceramics. Chrissy has been "obsessed" with having her hands in wet clay since she was a little girl at the early age of five when it was first introduced to her in school for a Mother’s Day gift.
"Our teacher passed out balls of clay that we worked into tiles then pressed our little hands into to preserve that impression for years to come. "
Chrissy's mom loved it of course, and carefully tucked it away into her keepsake drawer that she would sneak into nightly to create little sculptures with. Her mother soon caught on when she found wet clay pressed into the wicker furniture as a result of Chrissy's newly discovered love of textures. She been hooked ever since!
Chrissy's work is inspired by her love of budding botanical forms, remnants found by the sea, and thrift shop finds. She designs and creates ceramic pieces for the home and garden that are both functional & decorative, handcrafted in her seaside studio at Hatch Street Studios in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
Chrissy has recently fallen in love with cooking & baking as she is just beginning to cook in her new home (and apparently she's pretty good!) "Who knew!" However, she still loves going out for a good meal & a nice bottle of wine. Chrissy's top favorite restaurants would be CAV downtown Providence, India on Hope Street (Ahhhh-mazing, one of my personal favs too!) and Margaret's in Fairhaven, MA where she actually works as a part-time waitress.
Chrissy is a self-proclaimed "beach bum". She lives down the street from the ocean and spends lots of time walking it year round with her bichipoo pup Thumbelina and her fiancee. She also loves getting lost gardening, thrift shopping, and reading through design blogs.
Chrissy sells her work online in her Etsy Shop and you can also check out Chrissy's beautiful work by going to her personal website (where you can find a list of shops carrying her work, her summer show schedule, and a little background about her & her process).
You can ALSO find work by Chrissy Feiteira at your OOP store in Dedham, Massachusetts!
